wiip, the global independent studio behind Mare of Easttown, to seek out new projects at Content Budapest
David Flynn, creative lead at wiip, the global independent studio behind HBO’s Mare of Easttown and White House Plumbers, Amazon Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, Apple TV+’s Dickinson, and BBC’s Toast of Tinseltown, among others, will attend Content Budapest to seek out new projects to pick up and develop for the global market.
Flynn’s emphasis is to find great storytellers from around the world, focusing on international scripted projects and plays an integral role in wiip’s efforts to identify talent, develop ideas and produce projects for the cable, streaming, domestic and international marketplace.
Flynn oversees a deep slate of projects for wiip and most recently served as an executive producer on Toast of Tinseltow for the BBC and Bodkin for Netflix. Flynn is in development with Sky, Channel 4, Nordisk, Amazon and Freevee to develop shows in Korea, England, Brazil, Australia, France, Italy, and Ireland.
Flynn will take part in a one-on-one interview at Content Budapest to outline the type of projects he is interested in and will also attend pitching sessions held during the event.
C21’s editor-in-chief & managing director, David Jenkinson said: “We are delighted David is taking part in Content Budapest. He has been involved in some of the most progressive projects to air over the past year, and his insights will be invaluable. Hopefully he will also connect with local producers from the CEE region to connect a new generation of hits with the global market.”
wiip’s critically acclaimed slate includes the Emmy-winning limited series, Mare of Easttown, starring Kate Winslet for HBO; Dickinson, the Peabody Award-winning comedy series starring Hailee Steinfeld for Apple TV+; Jenny Han’s wildly popular YA drama The Summer I Turned Pretty for Prime Video; HBO’s limited series White House Plumbers, starring Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux; Danny Boyle’s Pistol for FX/Hulu; Dummy starring Emmy-nominated Anna Kendrick for the Roku Channel; Arthur Mathews and Matt Berry’s comedy Toast of Tinseltown produced in conjunction with the BBC; and the dark comedy Bodkin, the first scripted drama from Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground, starring Will Forte for Netflix.
Content Budapest takes place between June 27-29 and is focused on developing new partnerships across CEE and with the international market.
